Providence Academy Coaches' Code of Conduct
Providence Academy Athletics is committed to providing a positive, safe, and encouraging environment for all student-athletes. Coaches play a critical role in shaping not only athletic skills, but also character, teamwork, and sportsmanship. All coaches are expected to model the values of respect, integrity, and dedication, and to foster an atmosphere where athletes can grow on and off the field or court.
Coaches Will:
- Serve as positive role models for all athletes.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among players, parents, and spectators.
- Conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values of Providence Academy and supports the best interests of student-athletes.
- Provide instruction and guidance in a constructive, encouraging, and respectful manner.
- Ensure that victories and defeats are handled with grace, humility, and respect.
- Treat all players, parents, spectators, officials, and fellow coaches with dignity.
- Never ridicule or demean players, other coaches, parents, or officials.
- Never tolerate behavior that endangers the safety or well-being of any student-athlete.
- Maintain a drug-free and alcohol-free presence at all Providence Academy athletic events.
- Avoid using tobacco products or e-cigarettes in practice areas, on the field, or in the gym.
Respect for Officials:
- Coaches must respect the decisions of officials and referees and model appropriate behavior for student-athletes.
- Negative, derogatory, or demeaning comments toward officials will not be tolerated and may result in suspension or dismissal.
- Complaints or concerns about officiating should be directed to the Athletic Director or appropriate school representative after the conclusion of the game.
- On-field disagreements should focus on rules, not personal arguments, and once an official has made a decision, coaches must accept it.
By upholding this Code of Conduct, Providence Academy coaches demonstrate a commitment to excellence, both in athletics and in character, helping student-athletes thrive in competition and life.
